This article in The Jarkata Globe reveals that Indonesian farmers are set to increase their plantation size in an effort to stop two consecutive years of falling production. They anticipate boosting production by at least 50 percent by 2021, according to the article. This will have a significant impact since Indonesia is the world’s third-largest coffee producer. I thought it used to be skirt length that forecasted stock prices and the economy in general. But according to Las Cruces Sun-News, it’s the price of coffee, more specifically the sales of coffee that can help in forecasting the economy. Apparently, healthy coffee sales mean people are will to spend more on discretionary items and services. But ask any caffeine addict and they’ll tell you, coffee isn’t discretionary its a necessity! Here’s an article about a study recently released by the American Gastroenterological Association Institute. Apparently, patients with advanced hepatitis C who have liver disease may experience an improved response to treatment if they drink coffee. Lower risk of liver cancer and slower progression of pre-existing liver disease has already been associated with an increase in coffee consumption. A recent article in Forbes details how successful Green Mountain Coffee stock as been lately. The stock is trading near its all-time high, a time to rejoice for those who got in early in the game. According to the article, at least one analyst believes that the stock is poised for many years of rapid growth based on a few factors. Keurig single-cup coffee makers are becoming more and more popular in North America.
